The following information aims to make your stay at the Kyabram hospital more comfortable by providing you with general information on what you may experience during your stay with us. Please click on links to access information about a particular topic.

If you are coming to hospital as a patient you should not bring valuables with you.  Jewellery should be left at home.  A small amount of cash may be useful if you wish to purchase a newspaper or magazine from the kiosk, but larger amounts will not be needed.  KDHS has systems in place to minimise the risk of theft, but cannot guarantee the absolute safety of valuables.

Visitors
For the benefit of our patients we ask that all visitors please observe and adhere to visiting hours. For all general patient visits, hours are 8:00am to 8:00pm and midwifery patients, 2:30pm to 8:00pm


Car Parking
Limited short-term parking is available for patient drop off or pick up at the main entrance off Fenaughty Street.

A limited number of visitor carparks are available on the Health Service site.  

There is also on-street parking which is available in all streets surrounding the Kyabram & District Health Services.

 

 Please note that vehicles on Health Service premises are parked at the owner's risk.


Chaplain/Pastoral Care

If you would like a visit from a Chaplain / Pastoral Carer of your religious denomination, you are encouraged to arrange this prior to your admission.  Health Service staff are unable to provide patient names to external bodies under the Privacy Act.

 

 Kiosk
The kiosk is open almost every day of the week between hours of 10.00 am - 12.00 noon and 2.00 pm - 4.00 pm, with a variety of items catering for clients and visitors needs, thanks to the wonderful work of the Ladies Auxiliary volunteers. 

Patient Accounts
Public patients
Medicare covers all hospital and medical costs for public patients.


Private patients
Private patients are responsible for hospital accommodation costs and for accounts rendered by medical practitioners.  Please bring details of your insurance coverage with you so that the Health Service can arrange to claim the cost of your hospital accommodation from your health insurance fund on your behalf.
KDHS will cover the first $400 of your private health excess.



Smoking

Kyabram & District Health Services, buildings and grounds, is a smoke free environment.


Telephones
Public patients
There is an onsite public telephones available for public patients to utilise, with a phone card.

Private patients
Have unlimited access (for local calls) to bedside telephones situated in every room.
