District Nursing
Kyabram District Nursing Service provides a professional service which aims to improve the health status of clients and their carers. The District Nursing Service covers the areas of Kyabram, Girgarre, Merrigum and Tongala. Care is usually provided within your home, but if appropriate may be provided at other locations eg workplace or District Nursing office.
The District Nursing Service provides assistance to all regardless of age, income or ethnicity. An interpreter service can be provided if required. Referrals can come from any source. you many contact the District Nursing Service yourself, or be referred via a family member, carer, your doctor, hospital or other health service/professional. A doctor's authorisation is necessary if management of medication and/or specific medical treatments would be part of your care.
The District Nursing Team provide the following services:
~Assessment and Regular Interviews of Health Needs
~General Nursing Care
~Wound Care
~Support and Rehabilitation
~Pain Management
~Breast Cancer Care
A Breast Care Nurse will be able to provide you with support, information and answer questions as well as helping you and your family throughout the breast cancer journey. The Breast Care Nurse is also avialable to discuss any concerns about the diagnosis, treatment options and recovery.

~Palliative Care
The Kyabram Palliatvie Care Service provides care and support for terminally ill patients and their families in their own homes. The service aims to enable people to live in dignity, peace and comfort throughout the duration of their illness. The service works closely with the patients own doctor and other community agencies. Palliative Care recognises the necessity to change from the focus for cure, to the management and alleviation of distressing symptoms.
