On Thursday, 19 March 2026, Kyabram District Health Service (KDHS) will recognise National Close the Gap Day, a nationwide day of action focused on achieving health equality for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
This year’s theme, “Community Voices: The Pathway to Justice, Equality and Healing,” highlights the importance of listening to and learning from First Nations communities to improve health outcomes.
At KDHS, we are committed to closing the gap by providing culturally safe care, strengthening partnerships with local Aboriginal organisations, and supporting targeted health initiatives that meet the needs of First Nations people in our community.
A key part of this commitment is to strengthen our relationships with the Local Aboriginal Community, Local ACCO’s and Traditional Owner Groups, to improve access to care, strengthen cultural understanding, and support better health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Close the Gap Day reminds us that health equality requires collaboration, respect, and action. KDHS is proud to stand alongside our community and partners as we continue working toward a future where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples experience the same health opportunities and outcomes as all Australians.
