Hospital Auxiliary Members See Impact of Their Generosity Firsthand

Members of the Hospital Auxiliary came together on Wednesday, 22 April, to see the direct impact of their recent fundraising efforts, visiting the hospital to view the new insufflator their donation helped secure.

Thanks to a generous contribution of $9,000 from the Auxiliary, the hospital has been able to purchase this important piece of surgical equipment, further strengthening local healthcare services.

An insufflator plays a critical role in laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery. It works by gently introducing carbon dioxide gas into a body cavity, creating space for surgeons to operate with greater visibility and precision. The device also carefully regulates pressure and can warm and humidify the gas, helping maintain patient stability and reducing the risk of complications such as hypothermia.

This new addition significantly enhances the hospital’s ability to perform a wider range of minimally invasive procedures. For patients, this can mean safer surgeries, less invasive treatment, and potentially faster recovery times.

During the visit, Auxiliary members had the opportunity to see the equipment up close and learn more about how their contribution is making a real difference to patient care.

The hospital extends its sincere thanks to the Auxiliary for their ongoing dedication and generosity. Their continued support plays a vital role in strengthening healthcare services for the entire community.

“The ongoing support from our Auxiliary makes a meaningful difference to the services we can provide locally,” said theatre nurse Jessie Healy. “This contribution directly enhances patient care and surgical capability.”

Strong partnerships like this ensure the hospital can continue delivering high-quality care close to home, now and into the future.
