$4.5 Million Redevelopment Completed at Kyabram District Health Service

Kyabram District Health Service (KDHS) is excited to announce the completion of a major redevelopment of our Theatre and Central Sterile Services Departments (CSSD), finished on schedule on 13 June 2025.

The $4.5 million project was funded through the Victorian Government’s Regional Health Infrastructure Fund (RHIF), announced by the Minister for Health, the Hon. Mary-Anne Thomas, during her visit to KDHS in March 2024.

The redevelopment delivers a modernised CSSD that meets current sterilisation standards and supports the highest levels of patient safety. The Theatre Department has also been upgraded, strengthening KDHS’ surgical capability and enabling the recommissioning of the procedure room. This expansion will help reduce elective surgery wait times and provide more timely care closer to home for the Kyabram community and surrounding region.

The project was guided by a KDHS-led project control group, with input from management staff and Board members. The build was delivered by Searle Bros. Pty Ltd, with B3 Architects, an Infection Control consultant, and specialist equipment suppliers Invitro Technologies and STERIS.

KDHS CEO Anne McEvoy said the redevelopment marks an exciting milestone for staff, visiting medical officers (VMOs), and the community.

“This project not only future-proofs our surgical services but also ensures we can continue to provide safe, high-quality care locally. It represents an investment in the health of our community and the wellbeing of our staff and VMOs,” CEO Anne McEvoy said.

The redevelopment demonstrates KDHS’s ongoing commitment to delivering accessible, coordinated healthcare for Kyabram and the surrounding region, helping patients stay closer to family and support networks while strengthening local health services.
