Due to increasing pressures and staff shortages Kyabram District Health Service (KDHS) and Kyabram Regional Clinic (KRC) are reviewing the after-hours and on call services provided by KRC.  We are doing this at the same time as recognising that the community needs access to medical support at all times, and KDHS is required to play an increasing role in supporting local people obtaining more of their healthcare closer to home.

To maintain sustainability, and to improve workload and work life balance, KRC will provide the on call service to KDHS from Mondays to Thursdays 8am until 11pm, and Fridays 8am until 5pm. To supplement this, a roster of locum doctors will provide in person medical support on weekends and public holidays from 8am to 8pm, and an on call service from 8pm to 8am. My Emergency Doctor continues to provide virtual online medical support for selected patients overnight. Our skilled nursing staff will continue to provide 24 hour care in conjunction with these services.

We thank KRC for their past 40+ years of dedications, and ongoing commitment to the Kyabram community and want to assure the public that KDHS will continue to work with our staff and service providers to provide the best healthcare possible.

We will continue to work with GV Health and our regional partners to strengthen and review our medical services, which are under pressure due to unprecedented demands. We will closely monitor the impact of these changes through our clinical quality and safety program, and we welcome feedback from the community at all times through https://www.kyhealth.org.au/feedback/ or (03) 5857 0200.

This new arrangement will start on 1st July 2022.
