Referrals

Referrals can be made to the Speech Pathology department at Kyabram District Health Service by individuals, families, doctors, maternal and child health nurses, preschool teachers and day-care centres, as well as other health professionals and services.

Services

Speech Pathologists assess, diagnose and treat communication and swallowing difficulties for people of all ages.

We provide services to people experiencing difficulty:

  • Understanding what is being said or following directions
  • Finding the words they need/want to say
  • Reading and writing
  • Expressing themselves
  • Being understood or heard by others
  • Having trouble articulating sounds accurately
  • Change in voice quality, pitch, volume or vocal fatigue
  • Participating in social settings
  • Stuttering
  • Difficulty swallowing food, drink, medications or saliva (chewing, coughing or choking)

Speech Pathology will assess and provide information, resources, education, support, individual or group therapy programs to help maximise the client’s and family’s communication/swallowing potential.

Speech Pathology can provide services at the hospital, at home, in the community or education setting (childcare, kindergarten, school-NDIS).
