KDHS to Deliver New $2.16 Million Education and Training Centre

Kyabram District Health Service (KDHS) is proud to announce the development of a new, purpose-built Education and Training Centre to be constructed on-site at its Kyabram campus. This significant project represents a total investment of $2.16 million in the local health workforce, made possible through funding from the Commonwealth Government and a generous $300,000 contribution from a private donor.

The facility has been designed to strengthen clinical education opportunities for nurses, students, and other health professionals in the region, supporting both current workforce needs and future workforce sustainability.

Spanning 320 square metres, the new Education and Training Centre will offer three dedicated training areas with capacity for up to 60 participants. In addition to group training zones, the centre will include smaller breakout rooms for one-on-one or small group sessions, which will also function as flexible office spaces for staff or facilitators. The project scope includes procurement and installation of cutting-edge clinical training equipment to simulate real-world scenarios and enhance practical learning outcomes.

KDHS Chief Executive Officer Anne McEvoy spoke of how the new centre is a long-awaited and critical investment for the organisation and the wider region.

“This facility will significantly boost our capacity to deliver high-quality clinical education and professional development, not only for our own team but for the broader local health workforce. Investing in training infrastructure means investing in safer care, greater staff retention, and ultimately better outcomes for consumers and community,” Anne said.

A design and construct contract has been awarded to a local consortium comprising Bruce Mactier Building Design and Moretto Building Pty Ltd, ensuring the build will support local industry and employment.

The centre is set to play a central role in KDHS’s workforce development strategy by reducing the need for regional staff to travel long distances for essential training. It is anticipated that the project will also support placements and partnerships with universities, TAFEs, and training organisations, helping to attract emerging health professionals to rural healthcare.

Construction began in September 2025, with completion anticipated by end of 2026. Once complete, the Education and Training Centre will further establish KDHS as a leading provider of rural health services and professional education in the region.
