About Us
Urgent Care Centre
Patients are assessed by a nurse and seen in order of how sick or injured they may be. This means that waiting times may vary depending on your medical needs.
The advice, support and care we give you will be based on your triage assessment. Not everyone who presents to UCC will see a doctor. For non-urgent conditions, you may be treated by a nurse or advised to see a doctor during business hours.
If medical support is required this may be through an on call local GP, on site medical officer or telehealth via the Virtual Victorian Emergency Department to ensure patients have access to appropriate medical assessment and care
Although KDHS do not charge a fee for your UCC visit, patients may be charged a fee if seen by an on-call doctor when we do not have doctors on site. In this case, you will receive an account from the Kyabram Regional Clinic which may be eligible for a Medicare rebate.
If required, you may be transferred to another service by ambulance at your cost. The cost is completely covered if you are an Ambulance Victoria member, or if you have a Pensioner concession card or health care card. It is strongly recommended that you join Ambulance Victoria to avoid unexpected changes. Join Ambulance Victoria
The closest free Emergency Department medical services are located at Goulburn Valley Health in Shepparton and Echuca Regional Health in Echuca.

Urgent Care Project “Choose Well, Feel Better”
If you are not sure if you need to see a doctor or go to a hospital, the “Choose Well, Feel Better” project supports people in their decision making about where to go when they have urgent care needs. The Dr Choose Well website provides free advice on your symptoms, contact numbers for nurses, maternal health and crisis help, a list of local urgent care centres and GPs local to your area and emergency contacts.
Post Acute Care information
Patients receiving care are supported by a skilled team of nurses, doctors, and allied health professionals who work together to develop individualised care plans that meet each patient's needs and goals. Where appropriate, KDHS can refer patients to post-acute care services for ongoing support after leaving the hospital closest to where they reside. Post-acute care is not provided by KDHS; the receiving service determines eligibility and acceptance and will contact the patient directly. KDHS does not have a discharge department.
